Discover
Card offers four general-market consumer credit cards, a Discover
student credit card and two Discover business credit cards targeting
the small business market.
Besides
the Discover credit cards issued directly by Discover Bank,
there is also the Discover payment network, in which other banks
issue Discover-branded credit cards. (In the same way that individual
banks offer Visa or MasterCard, they can now offer Discover
cards, too). These are listed as well.
(If
your card discovery process includes comparing the features
of Discover credit cards with credit cards from other issuers,
use the category links on the left side of this page.)
Discover
Credit Cards for Consumers:
Note that all of these carry the same interest
rate (currently as low as 10.99% up to 18.99%, depending on
your credit history), except the student card. Choosing between
them is mainly a matter of choosing what rewards you prefer:
Discover
More Card (formerly Discover Platinum Card) - Earn
up to a 1% Cashback Bonus on all purchases, plus the chance
for greater rewards as well:
Discover's
"Get More" program allows you to get a 5% Cashback
Bonus in categories like travel, home, gas, restaurants, movies
and more..
Also, you
can increase, even double, your rewards when you redeem for
gift cards from Discover's Cashback Bonus partners.
Discover
Open Road Card (formerly Discover Gas Card) - The Discover
Open Road Card offers the same interest rate terms and similar
promotional rates to the Discover More Card; the
difference with the Discover Open Road Card is that you'll earn
a 5% Cashback Bonus on gas purchases and on automotive maintenance
purchases year-round, and an up-to-1% Cashback Bonus on all
other purchases.
Miles
by Discover Card - The
rewards here are all about airline miles, although you do have
the option to trade in miles earned for cash or gift cards.
Earn
double miles on up to $3,000 in travel and restaurant purchases
each year, and one mile per dollar for any other card purchase.
Also earn up to 12,000 bonus miles. Redeem your miles for travel
credits starting at as low as 5,000 Miles.
Discover
Motiva Card
- The Discover Motiva Card offers a twist on the traditional
rewards program. It offers the traditional CashBack Bonus of
up to 1%, and it also offers the chance to get a month's interest
charges refunded back to you every time you make your credit
card payment on time for six straight months. This card is obviously
targeted to the cardholder who tends to carry a balance.
Discover
Student Card - The Discover Student credit card is like
the Discover More Card above, but a little less generous. It
offers a 0% interest rate on purchases for 6 months, but no
balance transfer option. It offers a fixed interest rate of
16.99%. There's no annual fee.
As
far as the Cashback Bonus program goes, however, there is little
difference. You can earn up to a 1% Cashback Bonus on all purchases,
plus the chance for greater rewards as well:
Discover's
"Get More" program allows you to get a 5% Cashback
Bonus in categories like travel, home, gas, restaurants, movies
and more..
Also, you
can double your rewards with over 80 of Discover's Cashback
Bonus partners.
Discover
Credit Cards for Small Business:
Discover
Business Card - The Discover business credit card offers
business cardholders a 0% introductory interest rate on purchases
and balance transfers for 12 months. Ongoing interest rate is
13.99%. There's no annual fee.
The
Discover Business Card has a rewards package more generous than
any of Discover's consumer credit cards. Each year you can earn
a full 5% Cashback Bonus on your first $2,000 in office supply
purchases AND a full 2% cash back on your first $2,000 in gas
purchases. In addition, all your other purchases qualify for
the standard Cashback Bonus of up to 1% depending on the amount
of yearly purchases you make. And your rewards can be doubled
when you take them as gift cards or gift certificates from many
of Discover's retail partners.
