Delta Airlines Credit Cards

Through its partnership with American Express, Delta Airlines offers a number of credit cards that reward cardholders with Delta Skymiles or Delta Skypoints. Below we list each Delta credit card, along with features/benefits that distinguish one from another in helping you choose the right card for your needs.

(If you are interested in other airline credit cards as well, see Travel and Airline Credit Cards.)

Delta Airlines Credit Cards (Consumer):

First off are three variations on the Delta SkyMiles credit card. Each offers the same basic reward and interest rate (Prime Rate + 9.99%), but each offers different upfront mile bonuses, mileage earning limits and annual fees. The paragraphs below will allow you to compare the three offers:

Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express - Earn 1 Delta SkyMile for every dollar spent, plus earn 2 points per dollar at supermarkets, gas stations, drug stores, home improvement and hardware stores, U.S. Postal Service, on your wireless phone bill and for Delta purchases. You also get 5,000 bonus Delta Skymiles with the first use of this credit card. The annual fee is $55 unless you also carry another American Express credit card, in which case the annual fee is waived. Up to $60,000 in card spending is eligible for Delta SkyMiles rewards.

Delta SkyMiles Gold Credit Card from American Express - Like the standard card, earn 1 Delta Skymile for every dollar spent, plus earn 2 points per dollar at supermarkets, gas stations, drug stores, home improvement and hardware stores, U.S. Postal Service, on your wireless phone bill and for Delta purchases.

With this card, you get 15,000 bonus Delta SkyMiles after your first purchase. No annual fee first year. After the first year, it's $85, unless you already carry another American Express credit card, in which case the annual fee is $30. Up to $100,000 in card spending is eligible for Delta SkyMiles rewards.

Delta SkyMiles Platinum Credit Card from American Express - Same basic offer as the two above, but with a 15,000-mile bonus after your first purchase with the card. You get one free companion coach ticket each year, so you can take someone with you free on a Delta flight.

Annual fee for this one is $135 unless you already have another American Express Card, in which case the annual fee is reduced to $80. There is no cap on how many Delta SkyMiles you can earn with this card.

Now, before you decide, there is one other Delta credit card option for consumers that is structured differently than those above. Compare its features to see if it might be the right choice for you:

Delta SkyPoints Credit Card from American Express - With this Delta Airlines credit card, you earn SkyPoints instead of SkyMiles. With Delta SkyMiles, you have to earn up to certain mile totals to get free flights or earn upgrades or discounts. Delta SkyPoints, on the other hand, are more flexible--you can use SkyPoints more like cash, meaning that, for as little as 3,000 points, you can get 10% off on a Delta flight, and at the most generous level, you can get 75% off of the first $500 on the price of a ticket (i.e., you can get $375 off of any ticket valued at $500 or more). In short, Delta SkyMiles can be worth more, but SkyPoints are easier and quicker to be able to use.

With the Delta SkyPoints credit card, you'll earn 1 Delta SkyPoint for every dollar spent, plus earn 2 points per dollar at supermarkets, gas stations, drug stores, home improvement and hardware stores, U.S. Postal Service, on your wireless phone bill and for Delta purchases. You also get 2,500 bonus Delta SkyPoints with the first use of this credit card. No annual fee for the first year. After that, the annual fee is $49 unless you also carry another American Express credit card, in which case the annual fee is waived. Up to $60,000 in card spending is eligible for Delta SkyPoints rewards.

Delta Airlines Credit Cards (Business):

Delta credit cards for businesses are almost carbon copies of the consumer cards, except they offer special business bonuses such as discounts at FedEx and bigger credit lines.

First off are three variations on the Delta SkyMiles credit card. Each offers the same basic reward and interest rate (Prime Rate + 9.99%), but each offers different upfront mile bonuses, mileage earning limits and annual fees. The paragraphs below will allow you to compare the three offers:

You also get one free companion coach ticket each year, so you can take someone with you free on a Delta flight. In addition, you get 5% off any Delta flight purchased wih the card.
