HSBC Rolls Out Debit Cards with Contactless Technology
HSBC Bank USA has begun issuing and reissung debit cards that feature compatibility with MasterCard? PayPass technology. PayPass allows card users to pay quickly and possibly more securely by tapping their cards on merchant terminals without the card ever leaving their hands. Some merchants allow PayPass users to complete transactions under $25 without an accompanying customer signature. HSBC expects to issue about one million cards through the end of 2005 and says it will be the first bank to completely reissue its debit cards to include PayPass.
