Annoyed when you find a parking spot and realize you don’t have the right change for the meter? If you live or work in Las Vegas, that annoyance is a thing of the past, at least in some cases. Las Vegas is one of the first cities in the country allowing drivers to pay for on-street parking with credit cards or cell phones, introducing today 15 new meters that cover 150 parking spots in the city’s downtown business district.
“We are trying new parking meter technology to make it more convenient for customers to enjoy a downtown that is accessible and a place where people can easily conduct business,” according to Las Vegas City Manager Doug Selby. The new meters are from Reino Enforcement Technology. The pay by cell phone service is provided by mPARK service. Cell phone payments are processed by Peppercoin.
