Wachovia Names New Credit Card President

Wachovia Corp. today named Steven Boehm as the president of their Wachovia Card Services division. This follows Wachovia’s recent announcement that the company will terminate its joint marketing agreement with MBNA and re-enter the credit card business as a direct issuer this January.
Boehm is a natural choice for Wachovia, having been the chief operating officer for the company’s previous credit card business — which started as First Union’s credit card portfolio before being sold to MBNA following the merger of Wachovia and First Union.
