Night Shyamalan Directs, Stars In New American Express Commercial
M. Night Shyamalan, director of “Sixth Sense” and
other movie thrillers, is directing and starring in the latest
installment of the American Express “My Life, My Card”
TV campaign, which premiered during the Academy Awards telecast
on Sunday.
Shyamalan
is the first director in the “Director’s Series” of
commercials American Express will produce. Robert De Niro, Tiger
Woods and Ellen DeGeneres are among the notable personalities
that have already appeared in the ads. Like the others Shyamalan
will apear in print ads as well in TV spots.
Commenting
on his turn in front of the camera for American Express, M.
Night Shyamalan said, ?The campaign is one I respect and the
individuals in it are people I respect. As an author, you are
not often given the opportunity to connect with your audience
on a personal level.
“I
really did approach this commercial as a two-minute movie. I
wanted this project to be authentic because the opportunity
to tell a story in this format will reach a lot of people, and
in many ways this could be the warm up for ‘Lady in the Water’
[Shyamalan’s latest movie] which comes out in summer.?
