Survey Gauges Customer Satisfaction with Top Credit Card Issuers

Research company Keynote Systems released the results of a survey measuring customer satisfaction with online credit card issuers during the initial application process. Based on interviews with 2,000 consumers, Keynote found:

Discover was considered the top issuer for overall customer satisfaction, including the rates and fees of the cards themselves as well as consumers’ experience in applying for them. American Express and Chase were the runners-up here.

  • American Express was considered the most trustworthy of the issuers.
  • Chase was tops in terms of who actually signed up or intended to sign up for a card, with Citi and American Express also strong here.
  • HSBC was considered the best performing Web site, in terms of speed and reliability. Providian fared well here, too.

Credit card issuers included in the survey included American Express, Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, Citi, Discover, HSBC, MBNA, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo.
