Airport lounge luxury in malls for some Chase cardholders
Chase and United Airlines have teamed up to create one of the holiday season’s most off-the-wall ideas. They’re opening a VIP lounge in a mall near each of two of United’s hub airports, and providing free access to holders of Chase United cards and up to three guests. The lounges, which are already open, are set to close on Dec. 24, 2013, and are located in the Westfield San Francisco Centre and The Mall at Short Hills in New Jersey.
Credit cards for tranquility
Malls in December can be stressful places, and the lounges are intended to provide havens of tranquility. In addition to the sorts of complimentary goodies you’d normally expect in an airport lounge (snacks, beverages, café seating, flat-screen televisions and Wi-Fi), there should also be additional services that could be invaluable for shoppers:
- A gift-wrapping service
- Coat and bag checking
- Football Sundays, when fans can follow all the game action
There are also Toys for Tots Tuesdays. Donate an unwrapped toy on a Tuesday while the lounges are open, and receive your own gift: one United Club pass.
A bigger picture
Chase sees this offering as a natural extension of the privileges offered by its credit cards.
“We want to provide extra benefits wherever possible through special programs, such as a VIP Lounge and InsideAccess, a program which offers unique experiences, for our cardmembers,” remarked general manager David Gold. “This is of course in addition to the many benefits our cards offer to make traveling much more enjoyable.”
