Credit Card Data May Have Been Stolen
Ross-Simons, a retailer specializing in jewelry, home decor
and collectibles, announced yesterday that customer data linked
to its private label credit card had been accessed without authorization.
Ross-Simons credit card numbers and other personal information
were both made vulnerable.
The
securtity breach was discovered on April 4th.
According
to Ross-Simons, the cause of the external system breach--which
generally means someone from outside the company infiltrating
the company's computer systems--has been identified and corrected.
The company has now discontinued storing customer credit card
application information, and has hired a third-party to conduct
an audit of its security procedures.
Ross-Simons customers who have additional questions or concerns
can call 1-888-838-0815 or go to http://www.ross-simons.com/content/rspa_customer_faq.htm.
